Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Millwright is responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining rotating equipment within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, inspects, and maintains rotating equipment (PD Pumps, Centrifugal Pumps, Compressors, Agitators, Gear Boxes, Blowers, Fin Fans, etc.) per API/ASME/ANSI standards and OEM specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on rotating equipment.
  • Adjusts and aligns machinery and equipment.
  • Uses hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasks.
  • Reads and interprets schematics and drawings.
  • Sets up, prepares, and inspects the work site.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic physical and mechanical principles and craft math.
  • Understands bearings, seals, compressors, pumps, cylinders, valve and pipe configurations, shaft packing, and drive systems.
  • Understands characteristics of metals and types/applications of lubricants.
  • Follows guidelines and procedures to ensure rotating equipment operates safely and reliably.
  • Completes multicraft work, including fixed equipment installation and support of PM technicians.
  • Communicates and collaborates with Maintenance/Reliability Engineer to process pump data and improve equipment reliability.
  • Assists in creating job procedures for rotating equipment.
  • Provides basic millwright hand tools.
  • Exhibits and practices fundamental company behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, agitators, gearboxes).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with precision alignment and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and process safety requirements.
  • Three years of maintenance experience in the petrochemical field preferred.
  • Previous experience with machine shop equipment (column drills, lathes, milling machines, and associated tooling) preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute safety rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of quality policy and objectives.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for pumps and mixers.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze issues, identify solutions, and project consequences of actions.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word (Microsoft Excel preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly uses hands to handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently stands, walks, stoops, kneels, and crouches; occasionally sits.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift 50 pounds, and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing 200–500 pounds.
