Millwright
About the role
Join us as a Millwright at our Sawmill in Bucks, AL and put your skills to use to help keep our modern sawmill running at peak performance. This is a permanent, full-time position on our 2nd shift, featuring a rotational schedule that may include weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Work with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems involved in the manufacturing process.
- Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance to keep systems running smoothly, including inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
- Apply your knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, boost equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes to maximize production uptime.
- Demonstrate great attention to detail to identify and request relevant parts to complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Superior troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment (considered a plus).
- Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process (an asset).
- Basic electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair machinery components.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on heavy manufacturing machinery.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to schedule and document maintenance activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other maintenance professionals, operations, production staff, and supervisors.
- A high degree of urgency.
