Primary Function
To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment in a major producing unit or assigned area.
Typical Duties
- Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.
- Always represents the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”.
- Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work to be done.
- Inspects equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
- Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
- Advises when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
- Dismantle, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, and lubricates mechanical equipment.
- Adjust equipment for proper operating characteristics.
- Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
- Operates simple machine tools, such as, drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.
- Erects scaffolds and perform simple rigging as necessary.
- Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.
- Familiar with alignment / laser tools and equipment.
- Works with repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/ power plant or construction experience.
- A general knowledge of basic hand tools.
- Must be able to pass the written Millwright Skills Test at or above 70% or have an NCCER certification for your craft.
- Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
- Obtain and maintain an active status in a drug testing program and pass a criminal background check.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, bend, squat and lift.
- Talk and hear and comprehend.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
- Lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
- Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Work outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of times up to 12 hours a day.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Hiring Range
The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is $35.00 - $43.00 per hour. Full range for this position, available overtime: $35.00- $43.00 hour.
