Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of milling operations on construction sites.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to ensure successful project completion within timelines and quality standards.
- Supervise and direct assigned crew members in preparing, executing, and finishing asphalt milling projects.
- Interface with clients, inspectors, regulatory representatives, and other key individuals within the organization.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in multiple aspects of asphalt milling.
- Supervise hourly crew members and plan/schedule manpower and equipment as needed.
- Manage deliveries from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure safety, profit, scheduling compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure customer satisfaction in all customer and inspector interactions.
- Plan and direct work to maximize equipment utilization by employing delay-free production.
- Communicate productivity metrics, quality standards, and daily performance to crew members.
- Ensure the work site is prepared for the next crew.
- Conduct Daily Huddle meetings.
- Follow the Allan Myers Safety Program, including preplanning to identify conditions and exposures, proper safety and personal protective equipment, and accident investigation and reporting.
- Secure and enforce safety equipment and PPE for crew members and subcontractors.
- Maintain thorough preplanning that successfully identifies unique site conditions, major exposures, and controls.
- Enforce Allan Myers safety procedures with crew members and subcontractors within their work zones.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other Field Managers, Superintendents, and customers to implement successful project plans.
- Provide on-the-job training to crew members for assigned tasks.
- Communicate performance expectations for productivity, quality, and safety to crews and ensure progress towards expectations.
- Maintain performance documentation and provide input for salary and promotional recommendations.
- Administer disciplinary action for crew members and subcontractors as appropriate and consult with Superintendent/Trade Superintendent as needed for resolution.
- Encourage and promote teamwork, motivation, people development, the Collaborative Way, and retention.
- Communicate, follow, and enforce Allan Myers policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate Allan Myers Leadership qualities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required (continuing education in construction highly desirable).
- Minimum 3 years of construction experience in at least one trade discipline (i.e., excavation, pipe, concrete or paving) with one or more years construction supervisory experience preferred.
- OSHA 10 hour required.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Demands
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance.
- Occasionally requires the ability to sit, use hands/fingers, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Frequently requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires the following specific types of vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to the following environmental conditions: wet and/or humid (non-weather) conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, work with explosives and vibration.
- Subject to loud noise levels due to equipment operation.
