About the role

The Weapons Production directorate (ALDWP) is seeking highly motivated First Line Manager to support important national defense and space exploration missions at LANL, working in the Power Supply Production (PSP) Division.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and defining strategic objectives.
  • Delivering quality products and/or services; enforcing adherence to quality standards; achieving balance between the need to meet both productivity goals and quality standards.
  • Ensuring administrative and operating procedures are current, understood, and adhered to before releasing work.
  • Working with facility operations staff to execute work safely, securely, with quality, and in compliance with nuclear facility requirements.
  • Ensuring direct daily oversight of work, workers and the work environment.
  • Serving as the safety responsible line manager over people, equipment, and processes.
  • Ongoing communications with line management reporting on work status, deliverables and commitments.
  • Directing and overseeing work performed by employees including "on the floor" supervision.
  • Mentoring and motivating peers.

Requirements

  • Management: Experience in managing people and/or projects, including planning, organizing, and resource management, as well as demonstrated experience creating work scope, schedules, budgets, coordinating work activities, and tracking progress.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in the ability to effectively supervise, negotiate, conduct conflict resolution, mentor, and conduct personnel development.
  • Communication: Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, and publications; effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.
  • Demonstrated communication of technical issues and solutions to employees, peers and upper management.
  • Safety/Compliance: Demonstrated experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with safety and facility requirements while maintaining a rigorous formality of operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Desired Qualifications: Nuclear Experience: Experience with nuclear high hazard facility operating requirements, safety authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution of work. Diverse Team Experience: Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, scientists, and professional staff.

What You Need

  • Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Clearance: DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification.
