Milk Bank Donor Coordinator - Bronson Methodist Hospital - Full-time Days

About the role

The Milk Bank Donor Coordinator at Bronson Methodist Hospital is responsible for screening potential milk bank donors, interfacing with healthcare providers and hospitals, dispensing donor milk, analyzing data, and preparing reports for the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).

Responsibilities

• Conduct screenings of potential milk bank donors via in-person and over the phone.
• Interface with healthcare providers to complete the approval process for milk bank donors.
• Interface with hospitals and outpatient clients to dispense donor milk.
• Analyze appropriate data for approval of milk bank donors.
• Prepare reports for the HMBANA based on knowledge of HMBANA guidelines for processing and preparing donor human milk.
• Work closely with the Milk Bank Systems Coordinator, Pasteurization Coordinator, Breastfeeding Center, and department leadership in planning, implementing, promoting, and evaluating the donor intake program.
• Assist in the shipping and receiving of coolers and pasteurizing donor milk.
• Serve as a resource for Milk Bank Staff.

Requirements

• Average 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare-related field.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Computer skills, including reading, interpreting, and analyzing data from various computer systems and equipment.
• Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to work under frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines, including working up to 80% of the time on a personal computer.
• Regularly stand and walk, and lift light-weight objects (up to 20 pounds).

Qualifications

• A minimum of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Nutrition, dietetics, or a related healthcare field.

Skills

• Knowledge of HMBANA guidelines for processing and preparing donor human milk.
• Proficiency in computer systems and equipment.
• Effective communication skills.
