MILITARY INSTRUCTION - 9TH - 12TH GRADE

About the role

The Military Instructor teaches the High School Military Science program (JROTC) to a diverse student population. Notice to Applicants: This vacancy is at a school designated as an “Innovation School.” For more information, please contact the school and/or DCTA.

Responsibilities

• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Maintains discipline and monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students.
• Reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
• Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepares lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines.
• Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
• Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Meet one of the following educational backgrounds:
• Senior Army Instructors (SAI) are required to have a Bachelor's degree.
• Army Instructors (AI) are required by the Army to have an Associate’s degree.
• Be formally commissioned by a branch of the military.
• Be formally certified by the Army before you may apply for this position.
• Be authorized by the State Department of Education with a Junior ROTC - Endorsement.
• Previous formal Military experience required.
