About the role

The Senior Army Instructor Colonel JROTC Instructor teaches the High School Military Science program (JROTC) to a diverse student population (9th - 12th Grade). This position will be at John F. Kennedy High School.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Maintains discipline and monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students.
  • Reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines.
  • Administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Prepares, maintains, and submits student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

Requirements

  • Senior Army Instructors (SAI) are required to have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Army Instructors (AI) are required by the Army to have an Associate’s degree.
  • Be formally commissioned by a branch of the military.
  • Be formally certified by the Army before you may apply for this position.
  • Be authorized by the State Department of Education with a Junior ROTC - Endorsement.
  • Previous formal Military experience required.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Works effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to adapt to a changing work environment with a positive attitude and problem-solving approach.
  • The ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to accurately record, transfer, and relate information is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or another language, in the areas of speaking, listening and/or reading preferred and may be required for some positions.

Pay
