About the Role

Serve as an assistant to the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) in carrying out instructional leadership functions. Implement the Program of Instruction (POI) as outlined by the US Army Cadet Command and attend all scheduled or called AI meetings.

Responsibilities

• Coach JROTC color guard, Rifle Teams, Drill teams, and other unit activities (no external sports coaching unless approved by the DAI, BDE, CRS, or AC per CCR 145-2, Chap 4, para 4-4, pg. 20).
• Support and attend annual JCLC (Summer Camp) without exception; serve as a bus commander or ride with cadets to and from JCLC as directed.
• Plan and present daily LET-level classes as assigned by the SAI.
• Maintain military proficiency on JROTC curriculum topics through JSOCC attendance and distance learning (DL).
• Use Cadet Command’s JUMS, JCIMS, and Portal Systems.
• Actively recruit students to enroll in JROTC and maintain or exceed cadet enrollment requirements.
• Receive, store, safeguard, issue, and account for all government property assigned to the school.
• Participate in public affairs programs to promote the JROTC mission within the school, district, community, and civic groups.
• Perform all other assigned duties.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this role. Remote work or alternate arrangements are not available for this campus-based position.

Requirements

• US Army retired non-commissioned officer (NCO) grades E6 through E9.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Retired no more than three (3) years.
• Meet current Army physical and weight standards (CCR 145-2, May 2006).
• Certified as a JROTC instructor by the US Army Cadet Command.
• Wear the Army uniform daily and meet personal grooming standards (AR 670-1).
• Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students, SAI, parents, teachers, and administrators.
• Knowledge of administrative and supply operations.
• Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
• Commitment to staying current with professional developments.
