Military DoD SkillBridge Program - NPI Materials Specialist

GE Aerospace participates in the Military DoD SkillBridge program, offering Service members real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields during their last 180 days of service. This opportunity allows separating Service members to focus full-time on training with approved industry partners while receiving military compensation and benefits. Participants are not eligible for additional compensation from GE Aerospace.

About the Role

The NPI Materials Specialist will coordinate and expedite the flow of information and material through all Materials functions supporting development test vehicles. You will manage the configuration of development bill of material (BOM), establish demand and supply requirements according to engineering test plans, and fulfill material into applicable development stores warehouse. This role partners with the development stores team to manage material flow between stores and the assembly floor.

This position operates with some autonomy but is guided by established policies or review of end results. It allows modification of procedures and practices as long as the end results meet quality, volume, and timeliness standards.

Candidates with military logistics/supply experience, such as logistics/supply NCOs and officers, maintenance production controllers/planners, test/development logistics coordinators, warehouse/supply operations leaders, and program/operations leaders, may be a strong fit for this role.

Responsibilities

• Manage supply chain configuration management, master planning, material processes, and systems.
• Ensure operational alignment with test plans and KPIs.
• Optimize inventory and drive process improvements.
• Manage material processes and systems to provide accurate signals and maintain data cleanliness (removal of defects/inaccuracies).
• Understand inventory transactions and their impact on the MRD signal to optimize inventory and process improvements.
• Engage with Integrated Manufacturing and Product Operations to compliantly drive critical part delivery and allocation calls.
• Communicate program needs clearly and concisely to drive results at internal and external source locations.
• Work with the parts pool (development warehouse) to ensure accurate part tracking, allocation, and alignment of material flow and pick/issue transactions with the build plan.
• Apply knowledge of best practices and how your area integrates with others; understand competitive factors in the market.
• Use judgment to propose solutions outside of set parameters for complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.
• Use technical experience, analytical thinking, and multiple internal/external sources to arrive at decisions.
• Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
• Explain information, develop consensus-building skills, convey performance expectations, and handle sensitive issues.

Requirements

• Active Military personnel on their last 180 days before separating from Military Service.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience).
• This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Employment is contingent upon proving U.S. Person status (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee, or refugee).
