Military Base Enrollment Advisor I (Spectrum Center, San Diego, CA)
About the Role
The Military Base Enrollment Advisor is responsible for the prospective student experience from inquiry to enrollment at their assigned military base. This role manages a pipeline of potential student inquiries and handles all outbound and inbound communications. The advisor assists prospective students in the decision-making process by providing information on program knowledge, military tuition assistance for active duty, veterans’ benefits, and scholarship information.
The Military Enrollment Advisor is trained in all university programs, academic processes, program schedules, costs, and estimates. They collaborate with Education Specialist Officers (ESOs) on each base, coordinate with scheduling and faculty to comply with Military Base Memoranda of Understanding, attend base active-duty debriefs for transitioning service members, and participate in base graduations.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage prospective students’ inquiries via telephone, text, and/or email to increase contact and assist with enrollment from inquiry to the first class start.
- Build rapport with prospective students and document interactions in Salesforce, including notes, status, and activity reports.
- Manage the “Inquiry to Enrollment” admissions process and provide accurate information on university policies and programs.
- Understand prospective students’ needs and goals to help them make informed decisions.
- Maintain proficiency in university, college, and program knowledge through training and assessment.
- Provide professional, courteous, and high-level service to all prospective students.
- Collaborate as a team player with a positive attitude and punctuality for student appointments and meetings.
- Manage multiple systems to handle the student application file during enrollment and pass a federal background check for Dbids status.
- Guide students in gathering documents needed for program estimates and create estimates from prior transcripts.
- Meet with students to address degree plans, enroll them in programs, and create start plans.
- Develop student schedules, add/drop classes, and address concerns before the start date.
- Present student orientations via in-person, phone, and internet.
- Relay information from the Education Service Officer (ESO) back to the university.
- Travel to nearby bases for coverage as needed and attend on-base events such as education fairs, back-to-school nights, and base graduations.
- Participate in on-base drills (e.g., fire, active shooter) and meet enrollment deadlines for starting classes.
- Obtain approval for veterans, spouses, and dependents to access the base when required.
- Train in military benefits, including Tuition Assistance, GI Bill benefits, scholarships, and federal/state funding.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Defense and Military Base Memoranda of Understanding.
- Complete required training (e.g., PsychArmor, DOD MOU).
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of customer service experience required.
- Experience working on a team and using “call center” software.
- Education/consultative sales experience preferred.
- Military affiliation preferred.
