Midnight Detention Counselor for Juveniles - Pittsburgh

About the role

The Adelphoi Western Region – Highland Detention at Shuman is seeking dedicated individuals to support young people in crisis. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a new approach in youth intervention.

Responsibilities

• Work with local law enforcement and juvenile authorities to assist youth with urgent shelter needs.
• Act as a point of first contact, explaining the situation to youth, setting roles and expectations, and addressing immediate needs.
• Sustain a safe, secure, and trusting group environment to guide youth behavior within an orderly routine.
• Complete a rigorous training program to build relationships, address behaviors, and maintain healthy living arrangements.

Requirements

• Demonstrate clear 1:1 communication and establish rapport with youth.
• Have a level of fitness suitable for assisting with physical care and safety.
• Hold a minimum of 60 college credits to understand and apply relevant regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 college credits required.
