About the role
Liberty Central School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic middle school choir director to lead and grow a comprehensive 5th through 8th grade choir program and general music classes. The ideal candidate will inspire students through the instruction of the 5th and 6th grade choir, 7th and 8th grade choir, and general music classes. Ability to accompany the choir on piano is a priority. This is a full-time position with extra‑curricular responsibilities including directing the Middle School musical. Responsibilities
- Plan and lead student performances including school concerts, assemblies, community events, All County preparation, and NYSSMA/festival participation.
- Direct the Middle School musical and other extracurricular activities.
- Manage the music library and program resources.
- Integrate technology into music instruction.
- Collaborate with music staff and middle school faculty.
Requirements
- Minimum education: BA/BM in music education or music performance (MA/MM preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school choir (preferred).
- Proficiency in voice and piano.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience preparing students for festivals, adjudications, and honors ensembles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Pay
Salary is based on experience and the current Liberty Faculty Association agreement.
