About the role

MCHENRY COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 15 is seeking a Middle School Choir Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Parkland Middle School. The position reports to the Building Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements instructional programs in accordance with the District's philosophy and curricular objectives.
  • Provide music instructional services to varying middle school students.
  • Understand how to align the music program to the common core standards.
  • Design/create and produce a music program presentation.
  • Delivers instruction to engage all students and adjusts lessons as indicated by student progress for the purpose of improving their success in academic and interpersonal skills.
  • Create and administer assessments aligned with instructional goals.
  • Use the data from assessments to evaluate student competency, develop individual learning plans, and plan instructional groups.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
  • Manage student behavior, classroom procedures, and physical space to provide a safe and optimal learning environment for students and staff.
  • Assess student progress towards targets and standards for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration throughout the learning process.
  • Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration while establishing clear objectives for all lessons and communicating these objectives to all students.
  • Collaborate and facilitate ongoing staff development.
  • Communicate and collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes.
  • Understand various formal and informal assessment strategies and use them to support the continuous development of students.
  • Demonstrate exemplary classroom practice and possess a deep understanding of technology integration and quality learning principles.
  • Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.

Requirements

  • Current and Valid Illinois Middle School Music Endorsement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to education and a passion for working with young people. They should also have a proven track record of success in teaching music and a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Knowledge of educational technology.
  • Experience with curriculum alignment.

Pay

Salary will be commensurate with professional training and experience according to salary schedule.
