Middle School After School Study Hall Teacher

About the Role

St. Michael’s Prep is seeking a dedicated and engaging Middle School After School Study Hall Teacher to join our supportive school community. This position plays a key role in creating a safe, structured, and positive environment where middle school students can complete homework, study independently, and remain productive while awaiting parent pickup.

Responsibilities

• Student Supervision: Supervise middle school students during after-school study hall hours while maintaining a calm, safe, and structured environment.
• Academic Support: Encourage productive use of study hall time, keep students on task, and provide basic homework support and organizational assistance.
• Operations & Safety: Manage accurate attendance/sign-in/sign-out procedures, assist with dismissal and transitions, and monitor student behavior in alignment with school expectations.
• Community & Values: Serve as a positive role model while supporting and upholding the Catholic identity and mission of St. Michael’s Prep.

Schedule & Location

Location: Southwest Austin, off Barton Creek Blvd
Hours: Weekday afternoons, generally Monday – Friday from 3:45 PM – 6:00 PM (Occasional half-days require hours from 12:30 PM – 6:00 PM).
Supervised By: Associate Director of Auxiliary Programs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience working with middle school-aged students preferred.
• Completion of Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Training with the Diocese of Austin (or willingness to complete upon hire).
• Strong classroom management, communication skills, reliability, and enthusiasm for working with adolescents.
