Middle School (7th & 8th Grade) Math Teacher (part time)

About the role
Sacred Heart Parish School is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging part-time 8th Grade Math Teacher to support students in mastering key mathematical concepts in preparation for high school. The ideal candidate will deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and student confidence in mathematics. This role includes creating a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes both academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with grade-level standards and school curriculum
- Teach core math concepts including pre-algebra, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving strategies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, assessments, and technology to enhance learning
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents/guardians
- Create a structured, supportive, and respectful classroom environment
- Collaborate with middle school team members and administration to support student success
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as appropriate

Professional Qualifications
- Experience teaching middle school or 8th grade math (Pre-Algebra/Algebra) strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of grade-level standards and curriculum
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
- Collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented mindset

Physical Requirements
- Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom; frequently hold objects for demonstration
- Occasionally sit to develop lesson plans or grade assignments
- Walk through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks
- Walk on both even and uneven surfaces
- Kneel, squat, stoop, or bend to interact with students
- Reach at, below, or above shoulder height, sometimes requiring trunk or neck rotation
- Assist in moving children’s desks and chairs to change classroom layout
- Occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms
- Primarily work inside the classroom; mobile within the school facility for meetings, trainings, and events
- May be required to travel to city or county-wide locations for trainings or workshops

Pay
$22.00–$24.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
