About the role

This position carries broad, end-to-end ownership of a commercial banking portfolio, from underwriting new and existing credit requests through the daily management of the book. The role requires sound, independent credit judgment and the ability to exercise discretion on complex, non-routine transactions with limited oversight. Success requires strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, and reliable follow-through on competing deadlines across a varied caseload.

The person in this position will bring a well-developed sense of ownership and accountability, be comfortable operating with defined credit policy as a guardrail rather than a script, and be able to adapt quickly as deal structures, client needs, and market conditions change. This is a generalist role spanning multiple product types and client segments, well suited to an experienced professional who works efficiently and confidently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

As a Middle Market Portfolio Manager III, you will serve as a generalist credit professional responsible for the full lifecycle of an assigned commercial banking portfolio. You will underwrite new credit requests and existing renewals, structure and present complex transactions to credit officers, and negotiate credit terms and legal documentation directly with legal counsel, borrowers, and referral sources.

On a day-to-day basis, you will manage the health of the portfolio, including testing financial and reporting covenants, reviewing and analyzing borrower financial statements, confirming and maintaining accurate risk ratings, and monitoring the portfolio for compliance with credit standards. You will also work closely with other areas of the Bank, including Credit, Loan Operations, Legal, and Executive Management, and support business development efforts.

You will drive the overall success and growth of your assigned portfolio by deepening relationships with existing clients and supporting the acquisition of new ones. You will be asked to participate in community and business functions to ensure a positive image for the bank within the regional marketplace and industry-specific groups, establishing referral contacts within the community is an important part of the role. Finally, you will build a great rapport with clients and fellow associates and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.

All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
