About the role
AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer (Mid-to-Senior Structural Engineer) to be based in Denver, CO. This Structural Engineer will support a wide range of projects across industries including commercial, industrial, government, aviation, and technology.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Mid-to-Senior technical resource and formal QC owner for structural engineering deliverables.
- Lead structural design on mid-size projects and major tasks on large/complex projects.
- Direct and manage small teams of engineers and technicians (typically 2–6 staff).
- Independently perform and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Perform quality control reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by others.
- Develop structural cost estimates and write technical specification sections.
- Lead or significantly contribute to interdisciplinary coordination and design reviews.
- Represent structural engineering in client meetings and presentations.
- Provide regular mentorship and technical guidance to Engineer I–III staff.
- Perform advanced seismic analysis and retrofit design (including ASCE 41 and performance-based approaches)
- Conduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, and structural investigations.
- Oversee construction administration activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site observations.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program. 6+ years of relevant structural engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering. 10+ years of progressive experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado (or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months).
