This full-time role supports efforts in Newport News, VA, providing hands-on support to sophisticated naval equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with test and evaluation; perform validations/verifications of AN/BYG-1 systems
  • Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)
  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements
  • Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise
  • Interface directly with the on-site customer for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures; review change proposals for equipment impacts

Requirements

  • Active Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required to maintain clearance)
  • Mid-Level: High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of practical experience, OR an applicable degree/formal electronics training combined with three (3) years of practical experience
  • Senior-Level: High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of practical experience, OR an applicable degree/formal electronics training combined with six (6) years of practical experience
  • Must pass the Submarine Embarkation Medical screening
  • Hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, repairing networking equipment and Windows servers and workstations
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Qualifications

  • US Military systems/network experience
  • Direct experience working with AN/BYG-1 Combat Systems
  • Fire Control Technician "A" School

This position is contingent upon the identification of a candidate whose expertise meets strategic needs, at which point a dedicated, funded opening will be established.

Pay

Hourly rate: $23.99 - $40.00. This is an overtime-eligible position under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In addition to the base hourly rate, you may receive an additional health and welfare payment per hour worked, depending on fringe benefits selected.
