About the role

Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA), SWI (Seat Wire Integration) Electrical Design organization has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Wiring Design and Installation Engineer in North Charleston, SC to help define the future of commercial aerospace with innovative ideas that advance our culture of safety and quality.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., cable routing and geometry, brackets) for our diverse portfolio of advanced Commercial Aircraft, with a focus on critical electrical cable/wire harness installation, detail, and assembly designs.
  • Define the physical routing layout of wire routing throughout the airplane, accounting for wire supports and brackets, separation to maintain physical and functional safety, proper parts selection, and environmental impacts.
  • Ensure Safety and Quality are the top priorities in all designs.
  • Develop and analyze engineering design dispositions on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests).
  • Collaborate with factory floor partners to ensure designs can be built efficiently and safely.
  • Follow and improve documented processes, specifications, and procedures that support safe and quality design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
  • Develop basic statements of work and participate in technical reviews of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Analyze functional and physical requirements to assure the development of integrated designs and system architecture.
  • Actively support critical analysis and design reviews.
  • Work under the general supervision of a lead engineer and an experienced mentor to enhance technical learning and career growth.
  • Focus heavily on 787 seats and interiors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 4+ years of experience with wire harness, electrical, and/or mechanical design.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Aviation/Aerospace interiors.
  • 3+ years of experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5.

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $112,200 - $151,800

This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required (includes U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees). This is a US-based job and relocation assistance is available based on candidate eligibility. The employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. This position is for 1st shift.
