Job Overview

A leading national law firm seeks a mid-level transactional associate to join its Sports Practice Group. The role involves advising on a wide range of commercial agreements and strategic transactions in professional sports, entertainment, and live events.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on sponsorship and partnership agreements
  • Represent clients in naming rights deals
  • Negotiate media rights arrangements
  • Draft and negotiate merchandising agreements
  • Manage venue operations and development agreements
  • Handle premium seating and hospitality agreements
  • Work on licensing matters
  • Support franchise transactions
  • Engage in strategic joint ventures

Requirements

  • JD required
  • Must have prior experience working in a law firm
  • 4–5 years of transactional legal experience
  • Direct experience handling sports-related commercial transactions preferred
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Experience with sponsorship, licensing, media rights, venue operations, or franchise-related transactions is highly desirable
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and client-management skills
  • Strong academic credentials and transactional drafting ability
  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction where the candidate is based

    Qualifications

    • JD required
