About the role

The Dallas, TX office is seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing business. This role involves solving real-world engineering problems under the supervision and mentoring of senior engineers, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Develop geotechnical engineering scope of services and fee estimates
• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations
• Manage geotechnical and construction phase observation and testing field work performed by others
• Assign, review, and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS
• Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and calculations
• Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations and write reports
• Perform project management activities, including resource allocation, client expectations, budget management, invoicing, and backlog reporting
• Manage client relationships and business development opportunities
• Mentor junior engineers
• Collaborate with the geotechnical engineering department and other Schnabel offices to balance workload
• Occasionally perform field work, such as logging test borings, construction observation, and on-site client consultation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• 5+ years of professional experience in consulting geotechnical engineering
• Proficiency with geotechnical engineering analysis software (e.g., LPILE, APILE, SHAFT, GeoStudio, Settle3D, FoSSA, or similar)
• AutoCAD and GIS skills for developing geotechnical deliverables
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire for continual self-improvement
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
• Confidence, independence, and effective time management
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and navigate construction sites, trenches, ladders, and outdoor environments
• Willingness to perform field work and travel as needed

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $73,000 to $110,000, varying based on geographic location and other factors.
