About the role
The Mid-Level Environmental Specialist will manage complex environmental projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to strategic environmental planning. They should have a strong background in environmental science, engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in environmental assessments, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manage environmental projects, including wetland delineations, permitting, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Phase I & II ESAs, site remediation, and sustainability initiatives.
- Interact and communicate effectively with fellow team members, clients, and agencies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, NEPA, CEQA, RCRA, CERCLA).
- Draft figures and site plans via CADD software.
- Perform environmental fieldwork including oversight of subcontractor.
- Oversee data collection, sampling, and analysis for air, water, and soil quality.
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory filings.
- Mentor and train junior staff as appropriate.
- Stay current with changes in environmental laws, policies, and best practices.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and contributing to project bids.
- Carry out job functions safely and in accordance with a Health and Safety Plan and/or industry standards.
- Respond to inquiries and/or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Work effectively and harmoniously in a culturally and ethnically diverse workforce.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field. Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience/Training: 7+ years of relevant environmental experience, preferably in consulting, energy, or industrial sectors is preferred.
- REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS: Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred. Professional certification (e.g., PE, PG, CHMM, QEP) is preferred.
