Mid-Level Environmental Scientist / Project Manager

About the role

The selected candidate will provide support on various environmental projects for both government and private sector clients. This position will primarily support and manage Brownfields, due diligence and compliance projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or oversee preparation of reports (including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and hazardous materials surveys), Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Analyses of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCAs), and Remedial Action Plans (RAPs)
• Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, and indoor air samples
• Interpret sample data and prepare data summary reports
• Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
• Support environmental studies including asbestos and lead-based paint surveys, and mold and radon assessments
• Communicate and interact with project clients, vendors, and subcontractors
• Oversee and manage subcontractors during site assessment, excavation, and other remedial activities
• Support proposal and cost estimate development
• Maintain and expand upon experience while managing projects, project budgets and project teams and have the opportunity to expand further into leadership roles

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering or a related field
• Completion of 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training
• 6-10 years of experience with environmental studies, analyzing for hazardous materials in the environment (soil, groundwater, air, etc.), environmental consulting or related activities
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Highly motivated and customer focused and works well in a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication, responsiveness, and customer service skills

Qualifications

• Passing a criminal background check
• Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required
