Mid-Level Data Scientist
About the role
This team member will collect, process, and perform data analysis and deliver data-driven solutions to improve the mission area of Maritime Features. Surface, Publications, Events, Dissemination, Source Assessment, and Metrics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collect process data and perform data analysis.
- Integrate centralized protection and maintain data in DBMS.
- Clean massage and organize data.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
- Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner using storytelling/visualization.
- Aid in the creation/deployment/maintenance of cloud applications to support migration of data and production processes.
- Aid in the creation/maintenance of tools to extract feature data and metadata from various sources, including raster to vector, vector-to-vector, text to vector, and text database.
- Write/maintain Python scripts in ArcGIS to improve efficiency of the production process.
- Aid in providing support to Business Process Re-engineering.
- Perform data conversion/migration.
- Aid in the development and performance of automated Business Analytics.
Basic Qualifications
- Typically requires a BA degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- 1 – 3 years of experience in data science, including the areas of data collection, processing, exploitation, transformation, services, modeling, and analytics.
- 1 - 3 years of experience, using Tableau or equivalent Business Intelligence software and software server functions.
- 3 - 5 years of demonstrated programming skills with the ability to write/maintain scripts, including Python and Java, scripts and familiarity with querying with SQL.
- Knowledge and experience using developing code using versions control tools like Git.
- Knowledge and data science, including the areas of data services, modeling, and analytics.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to be approved for a CI Poly.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 – 3 years of demonstrated experience performing geospatial data management, including data type conversions, coordinate systems, and their conversions, and knowledge of projections and their properties/conversions.
- Experience in combining, digital cartography, computer, technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial, production techniques, remote sensing photography, and digital data formats.
- Experience building dashboards/websites portraying data analytics.
- Experience cleansing, structuring, large sets of data.
- Experience performing data analysis to examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden values, weaknesses, trends, and/or opportunities.
- Experience building dashboards/websites portraying data analytics.
- Experience working with geospatial data in multiuser enterprise environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with data quality control, tools, including ArcGIS Data Reviewer.
- Knowledge of metrics dissemination.
- Familiarity with emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, tools, and methodologies, with an understanding of their applications, implications, and integration into daily geospatial and intelligence workflows.
- Experience converting structured data into structured data.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
