About the role
Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking Mid-Level CNC Machinists for a rapidly growing operation at WOLF in St. Inigoes, MD. This position involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes to manufacture unique, one-of-a-kind products and systems for NAWCAD WOLF projects.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up and operate 3- and 5-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, and occasionally conventional mills, lathes, and miscellaneous machine shop equipment.
- Implement geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices to ensure all production products meet drawing specifications.
- Maintain proficiency in CAD/CAM capabilities through formal and informal training.
- Collaborate with customers to understand project requirements and develop machining options.
- Train and mentor Junior Machinists and other shop personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Follow and enforce safety standards within the Machine Shop.
- Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and aviation technical publications.
- Perform standard pre-operational checks on assigned machines and report any issues to the facility PM technician.
- Fabricate unconventional, one-of-a-kind items, systems, or apparatus in support of experimental project test articles.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on assigned machines and manage tool inventories.
- Support customer requirements as assigned.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Two to five years of increasingly complex CNC experience.
- Knowledge of GibbsCAM (or other common CAD/CAM such as MasterCam).
- Proficiency in various machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and plating.
- In-depth knowledge of materials like carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
- Strong mathematical skills and ability to read measuring devices.
- Forklift experience and/or 3D printing experience a plus.
- Current Driver’s License required; must be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy.
- U.S. Citizenship required and must have a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $25-$35/hr, with an additional $5.09/hr for health and wellness benefits. The estimated annual salary is $62,056 for Journeyman CNC Machinists and $70,806 for Master CNC Machinists.
