Mid-Level CNC Machinist
Primary Responsibilities
Program and operate 3 and 5-axix CNC mills, CNC lathes, and on occasion, conventional mills, lathes, and miscellaneous machine shop equipment to manufacture unique, on of a kind products and systems to support NAWCAD WOLF projects.
Implement geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices to ensure all production products are manufactured to drawing specifications.

Maintain proficiency in the latest CAD/CAM (ex: GibbsCAM) capabilities through formal and informal company-provided training. Work collaboratively with customers to understand project requirements and schedule, developing machining options, and translating customer requirements into functional hardware that meets all project specifications.
Actively train & mentor Junior Machinists and other shop personnel as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Follow and enforce all safety standards within the Machine Shop.
Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and aviation technical publications. Must work well with others, as part of a team.
Perform standard pre-operational checks on assigned machines and notify facility PM technician for any issues with machine performance.
Other tasking, as required to support customer requirements.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent. Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
- Mix of conventional and CNC machining experience, along with knowledge of GibbsCAM or other common CAD/CAM programs required. A minimum of 3 -5 years experience in prototype machining for mid-level, senior and/or master level consideration requires additional experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
- Experience with 5-axis machines and processing of unique materials a plus.
- Full command of various machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and plating with an in-depth knowledge of materials including, but not limited to, carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
- Skilled in mathematics required for machinists, also the ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial caliper, and all other measuring devices required by the Machinist Trade.
- Forklift experience and/or 3D printing experience a plus.
