Mid-Level Attorney - Transportation Defense

About the role

Morrison Mahoney LLP is seeking a full‑time Associate Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience handling the defense of Transportation matters. The position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and a collaborative, inclusive environment that values meaningful contributions.

Responsibilities

• Manage cases from inception through resolution, including taking and defending depositions.
• Prepare and file dispositive motions.
• Handle arbitrations and mediations (ADR experience).
• Prepare comprehensive status reports for insurers.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and scheduling requirements.
• Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and written status reports.
• Conduct in‑depth legal research and prepare strategic memoranda.
• Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, experts, and fellow attorneys on litigation strategies.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• At least 5 years of experience handling the defense of Transportation, Construction Litigation, and Tort Liability.

Skills

• Ability to draft and argue dispositive motions.
• Strong legal research and discovery response skills.
• Prior ADR experience handling arbitrations and mediations.
• Proficiency in preparing comprehensive status reports for insurers.
• Clear and consistent client communication.
• Collaboration with experts and attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies.

Pay

Competitive salary range of $130,000‑$185,000, commensurate with experience.
