About the role
AECOM is seeking a Mid-level Archaeology Technician (Archaeology Technician III) for immediate employment. This remote opportunity will report to our PNW Cultural Resources team. Candidates should be based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA due to project needs. This is a part-time, on-call position meaning workdays and times will be determined on an as-needed project basis.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
- Gathers and maintains specified records of scientific data for supervisors, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and inspections at client sites.
- Assists with calculations, sets up and operates equipment, inspects equipment and installations for compliance with specifications, and maintains proper project documentation.
- Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.
Qualifications
- High School graduates plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with archaeological fieldwork in the PNW region.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record, as project travel will be required for this role.
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.
- Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desired.
- Experience with Geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.
- Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
