Mid-Career Mechanical Systems Engineer (Multiple Openings)

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has multiple openings for Mechanical Systems Engineers supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract in various ground test and plant facilities at Arnold Engineering Development Complex, Arnold AFB, TN. These engineers will work as part of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining U.S. Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will directly impact ground testing of airframes, engines, or other aerospace systems by overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades of major mechanical equipment to ensure test readiness. These systems may include large motors, compressors, hydraulic pumps, heaters, dryers, and related industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to system malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and direct corrective maintenance to ensure timely return to service.
• Update and maintain system documentation for assigned systems.
• Collaborate with design engineering, fabrication shops, DoD clients, and other contractors.
• Develop advanced maintenance plans with Asset Health Assurance personnel.
• Conduct and document system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions for operation and maintenance.
• Assess and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Develop estimates for improvement projects.
• Work with planners, schedulers, and craft supervisors to safely plan and execute projects, including maintenance, upgrades, and test projects.
• Assist craft personnel with troubleshooting and oversee their work; provide technical leadership and guidance.
• Wear company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by policy and supervisory direction.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Grade 08: Minimum of 5 years’ post-degree engineering experience.
• Grade 09: Minimum of 8 years’ post-degree engineering experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to Air Force security requirements.

Pay

Annual salary ranges for this full-time position are as follows:

• Grade 08: $95,400 – $131,000
• Grade 09: $114,600 – $157,600
