Mechanical Engineer - Multiple Openings
Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our mechanical engineering group and contribute to the design and integration of advanced solutions for autonomous systems, including military and commercial oceanography products.
Responsibilities
- Lead system and subsystem designs through first article, test, integration, and delivery to manufacturing.
- Apply principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to research, develop, design, and test verified design solutions.
- Provide support to both engineering and manufacturing in all design phases.
- Demonstrate proficiency in material selection for underwater applications with corrosion considerations and structural analysis.
- Communicate designs and issues to each corresponding department.
- Research, develop, and plan designs of mechanical and electromechanical products for underwater applications.
- Oversee and coordinate activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
- Support Sales and Marketing Departments with engineering special quotes.
- Provide documentation for manufacturing support and design.
- Estimate labor and cost of materials for designs and applications.
- Build prototypes and test fixtures for new designs or update existing designs and products.
- Perform project management duties as assigned.
- Communicate and support the efforts of each department with mechanical designs and implementations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD and solid work modeling, particularly SolidWorks.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and/or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
- Knowledge of Enterprise PDM (EPDM) in support of 3D modeling tools.
- 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years with a Master's degree; or 0 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
- Experience with mechanical design and new product development.
- Familiarization with mechanical engineering standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Skills
- Manufacturing/Design experience with marine products.
- Experience with Jira, AutoCAD, and GD&T.
Work Environment
This onsite position in Pocasset, MA involves collaboration within a cross-functional design team, applying advanced mechanical engineering techniques to develop cutting-edge oceanography products. The role requires a hands-on approach to design and problem-solving in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Pay
The pay range for this contract position is $42.50 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
