About the role
The Electrical Systems and Controls Engineer supports TOS II at Arnold Engineering Development Complex in Arnold AFB, TN. This position plays a crucial role in enabling the ground testing of next-generation supersonic and hypersonic systems.
Responsibilities
- Developing system and subsystem requirements
- Systems configuration design including conceptual and detailed sketches and layouts, specifications and design calculations
- Instrumentation and Control System design, development, maintenance, and/or operations support
- Responding to systems malfunction, troubleshooting, and directing corrective maintenance activities
- Ensuring a timely return to service
- System verification and validation in preparation for test execution
- Updating and maintaining system documentation for systems of responsibility
- Working with multiple organizations/stakeholders such as design engineering, fabrication shops, DoD client, and other contractors
- Reviewing design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors and preparing comments and recommendations
- Developing advanced maintenance plans
- Conducting and writing up system safety hazard analyses and writing clear work instructions for operation and maintenance
- Absessing and communicating risk to stakeholders
- Developing estimates for improvement projects
- Working with planners, schedulers, and craft supervisors to safely plan and execute projects including maintenance work, upgrades, and test projects
- Aiding craft personnel with troubleshooting and overseeing their work; providing technical leadership and guidance
Requirements
- Grade 08: BS degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university plus a minimum of 5 years’ progressive and relevant engineering experience. An MS in addition to the BS reduces the minimum experience to 3 years.
- Grade 08: BS degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university plus a minimum of 8 years’ progressive and relevant engineering experience. An MS in addition to the BS reduces the minimum experience to 6 years.
- Military clearance required
- U.S. Citizenship required for employment at AEDC
Qualifications
- BS degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
- MS in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive and relevant engineering experience
- Minimum 8 years’ progressive and relevant engineering experience
- Department of Defense Secret level security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for employment at AEDC
Skills
- Work experience in low, medium, or high voltage power distribution
- Work experience in dealing with electrical systems or electrical components of mechanical systems
- Work experience in the application of control system theory for process and/or motion control applications, closed-loop feedback control systems, control systems using PLCs, PID control systems, and/or developing ladder logic and HMI software
- Strong organizational skills to track and facilitate progress on projects
- Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive to results
- Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships with team across engineering and craft workforce
- Strong communication skills (including verbal and written) including the ability to convey complex technical information effectively to a broad audience

Pay
Salary range: Grade 08: $98,000 - $131,000; Grade 09: $115,000 - $154,000 / year
