Microwave Technician

About the Role

Our customers span industries such as public safety, commercial, manufacturing, education, healthcare, utilities, and government. Responsibilities

• Preparing, adjusting, and calibrating standard test apparatus or devices.
• Analyzing and recording testing results.
• Utilizing test equipment to conduct functional, operational, and environmental testing.
• Performing detailed RF test measurements such as gain transfer, frequency response, noise figure, modulation, and return loss using manual and automated tests.
• Understanding the operation of various types of test equipment such as Power Meters, Frequency Counters, and Spectrum/Network Analyzers.
• Maintaining and establishing effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and customers.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in repairing and installing microwave radio systems.
• Hands-on experience with project-specific OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
• A strong technical electronics background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct failure analysis.
• Knowledge of concepts, characteristics, capabilities, and theoretical design of microwave radio equipment.
• Certified on Wavence or ALU 9500MPR Microwave Radios or ability to pass certification testing within 90 days of employment.
• Understanding of two-way radio / cellular infrastructure communications products, services, and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints.
• Experience with at least one of the following: public safety communications systems, cellular infrastructure, military communications, civil infrastructure construction.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The role requires working inside and outside in varying conditions including heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, and arid environments. Physical demands include:

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands to handle tools or controls.
• Reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, and talking or hearing.
• Utilizing personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
• Lifting (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, and frequent use of near vision for reading and computer use.
• Handling semi-frequent stressful conditions and working in outdoor weather conditions.
• Moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional ladder climbing and operating a motor vehicle.
• Frequent positioning to maintain computers or other equipment.

On-call for critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours are Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.
