About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Microsoft Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and secure a complex Microsoft enterprise network infrastructure within a high-security environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience across Microsoft GCC High, Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows Server, FortiGate, Cisco networking, endpoint management, and network security. This individual will play a key role in the organization's GCC High implementation while ensuring network performance, reliability, security, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Network Design & Implementation
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructure.
- Configure and manage FortiGate firewalls and switches.
- Configure and support Cisco switching infrastructure.
- Manage wireless access points and associated networking technologies.
- Develop secure and scalable network architectures.
- Create and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation.
- Ensure network infrastructure meets performance, reliability, and security requirements.
- Security & Compliance
- Configure and enforce firewall rules, network segmentation, access controls, and security policies.
- Perform network risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Identify security weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with the organization's CMMC compliance team.
- Support technical controls associated with CMMC and NIST frameworks.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities to strengthen infrastructure security.
- Microsoft GCC High & Microsoft 365
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing administration of Microsoft GCC High.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft services including:
- Microsoft 365
- Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID
- Exchange Online
- SharePoint
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft Defender
- Configure Microsoft compliance policies.
- Support risk and vulnerability management solutions.
- Maintain secure integration between cloud and on-premises environments.
- Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Management
- Administer Microsoft Intune.
- Configure endpoint security and compliance policies.
- Manage device configuration and lifecycle management.
- Develop and improve secure onboarding procedures for employees and equipment.
- Ensure users receive secure access to required applications, systems, and resources.
- Maintain endpoint security throughout the device lifecycle.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Troubleshoot complex networking and infrastructure issues.
- Resolve server, endpoint, network, and user-related problems.
- Perform root-cause analysis following technical incidents.
- Implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues.
- Provide advanced technical support for Microsoft and networking environments.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor network performance, availability, security, and reliability.
- Conduct regular network performance testing.
- Identify network bottlenecks and potential failures.
- Implement improvements to maximize network uptime and performance.
- Proactively identify infrastructure risks before they impact operations.
- Project Management
- Lead network, infrastructure, security, and Microsoft-related projects.
- Manage projects from planning through implementation.
- Coordinate project schedules and technical resources.
- Maintain appropriate technical and project documentation.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews.
- Ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for networking and Microsoft infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT, network, security, and compliance teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
- Communicate technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Learn and develop expertise in new technologies as organizational requirements evolve.
Requirements
- 7+ years of overall IT experience.
- Ideally 3–5+ years in a high-level Network Engineering position.
- Strong knowledge of:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- VLANs
- VPNs
- Routing
- Switching
- Strong hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls.
- Strong experience with Cisco switching infrastructure.
- Advanced Microsoft Windows Server experience.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Hands-on Microsoft Intune experience.
- Experience implementing secure user and device onboarding processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay
$90,000–$110,000 Base Salary
