About the role
Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Microbiology Supervisor to join their Lab team.
Responsibilities
- Ensures assigned responsibilities are performed with dignity for individual patients and staff members, with excellence in all functions and with a concern for efficiency.
- Reports monthly to the Director of Consolidated Laboratory Services on quality assurance parameters, continuing education activities, and departmental or hospital problems.
- Checks daily reports for errors, corrects them, and notifies relevant personnel: caused by computer system, technologists/technicians, or instrument problems.
- Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on schedule, troubleshoots, documents corrective actions in an instrument/equipment log book, and is accountable for laboratory activities 24/7, delegating to other supervisors or senior Technologists as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all accrediting agency regulations, such as AABB, CAP, and PA State.
- Interacts with physicians and other hospital departments to follow up on complaints, changes in protocol, and problems or unusual circumstances.
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of all aspects of assigned section, including theoretical and practical applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology
- MLT (ASCP) certified, LA (ASCP) certified, or meet the training and/or experience requirements for MLT certification.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
- Certification as MLT (ASCP), LA (ASCP), or equivalent is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of all aspects of assigned section, including theoretical and practical applications.
