Microbiology Supervisor

About the role

Nazareth Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Microbiology Supervisor to join the laboratory team. This full-time, day-shift position ensures assigned responsibilities are performed with dignity for patients and staff, excellence in all functions, and a focus on efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports monthly to the Director of Consolidated Laboratory Services on:
  • Quality assurance parameters
  • Continuing Education activities
  • Departmental or hospital problems
  • Statistics
• Checks daily reports for errors, corrects them, and notifies necessary personnel for issues caused by:
  • Computer system errors
  • Technologist/Technician errors
  • Instrument problems
• Ensures all Preventative Maintenance is performed on schedule, with troubleshooting, corrective actions, and reports documented in an instrument/equipment log book.
• Accountable for laboratory activities 24 hours per day, delegating to other supervisors or senior Technologists as required, and ensuring compliance with accrediting agency regulations (e.g., AABB, CAP, PA State).
• Interacts with physicians and other hospital departments to address:
  • Complaints
  • Changes in protocol
  • Problems or unusual circumstances
• Demonstrates broad knowledge of all aspects of the assigned section, including theoretical and practical applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
• MLT (ASCP) certified, LA (ASCP) certified, or meets the training and/or experience requirements for MLT certification.
