Microbiology Manager
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Microbiology Supervisor to join a dynamic team in a newly established laboratory in Brooklyn, NY.
About the role
This role involves managing a team of technologists, overseeing laboratory operations, and ensuring the successful implementation of automated microbiology processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a team of 8-10 full-time technologists.
- Oversee scheduling, workflow, troubleshooting, and administrative duties.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on specimens received in the laboratory.
- Ensure understanding and application of the principles of tests performed and equipment used.
- Work specifically in hematology, responsible for urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.
- Troubleshoot and manage new equipment including bidex, ms prime, and virtue incubators.
- Perform statistical analysis and revise policies and procedures as needed.
- Conduct validations and inspections, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Handle emergency bench work if necessary.
Requirements
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing/supervising in microbiology.
- Experience with all microbiology automated equipment and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field plus 4 years or more of clinical lab experience.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience with validating equipment in microbiology.
- Experience with inspections as a manager or supervisor.
Work Environment
The work environment offers a Monday to Friday day shift, with flexible hours from 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. The role is based in a brand new laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art technology. No weekend work is required.
Pay
The pay range for this permanent, onsite position is $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
