About the role
The Laboratory Supervisor at Eurofins Scientific is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology department, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of samples, and promoting the company’s vision and image.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
- Absenteeism and punctuality
- Scheduling, supervising, instructing, monitoring, and assisting in the performance of manual and instrumental analyses
- Timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments
- Authority to execute a work stoppage in case of a quality issue
- Use appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed standards, set by government regulations, and company requirements
- Promote the company image through sound and ethical business practices
- Follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), and Test Methods
- Perform microbiological testing on client samples using appropriate instruments and techniques
- Troubleshoot equipment/instruments and perform minor repairs
- Coordinate major instrument repairs with repair person(s) and local quality representative
- Establish and implement procedures to ensure assigned equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated/standardized, and maintained in good working order
- Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis and as needed for quality control results
- Aid laboratory staff in ensuring analytical work meets quality system requirements
- Review and evaluate test data for technical accuracy and SOP/test method compliance; perform and provide basic evaluation of statistical tests
- Investigate non-conformances, determine and implement corrective actions, and follow-up to ensure resolution
- Review and validate technical data to ensure it is ready to report
- Train and document the training of assigned technical staff on test methods, formal SOPs, regulations, and laboratory policies/procedures
- Review annually the performance of personnel that report directly to this position and provide written reviews to the Business Unit Manager for approval
- Stay current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by the Business Unit Manager
- Respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and coworkers; assure clients are kept informed and their needs are met
- Adhere to all pertinent company health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Requirements
- High school diploma plus 5+ years’ laboratory experience
- 2+ years’ supervisory experience in related field
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2+ years’ laboratory experience preferred
- Experience in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing
