Micro Lab Technician - Day Shift

Responsibilities

• Media preparation (preparing pre-poured plates).
• Supplies inventory, receiving and ordering (SAP knowledge).
• Quality control functions in the lab including: performing temperature checks on incubators and water baths daily, sterility testing and documentation of the sterilizer, media PH, PH meter calibration, thermometer calibration.
• Media transfers for the rapid essays.
• Plating procedures on raw materials.
• Performing rapid tests (gene-trak).
• Plating procedures on swabs and sponges (includes plating and streaking).
• Data entry on computer.
• Temp abuse procedures.
• Analyze Microbiological results for out of specification conditions and hold or release product for shipment in our inventory management system based upon those results.
• Ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
• Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Ensure Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.82 to $28.73 per hour.
