About the role
The Archaeological Collections Manager reports to the Director of Collections with a dotted line to the Department of Anthropology. The Collections Manager is responsible for the care, preservation, activation, and documentation of diverse archaeology collections of the MSU Museum in order to advance research, education, exhibitions, and outreach.
Responsibilities
- Care and preservation of archaeological collections
- Promotion of research opportunities
- Development and implementation of educational programs
- Curatorial support for museum exhibitions
- Documentation and cataloging of collections
- Outreach activities to promote public engagement with archaeology
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in museum curation or related field
- Experience with archaeological materials and techniques
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Qualifications
- Knowledge of archaeological methods and theories
- Experience with database management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Skills
- Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office and database management systems
