Mgr, Maintenance and Planning JPM ($15k signing bonus and Relocation Available)
About the role
This position is responsible for leading maintenance planning and execution, scheduling, work management processes to support safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of generating assets.
The salary range for this position is $135,400 - $203,100, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available for successful external applicants.
Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance planning, scheduling, and work management processes for assigned generation facilities.
- Manage, coach, and develop assigned planning, scheduling, and work process staff.
- Oversee daily, weekly, outage, and long-range maintenance schedules to ensure work is properly prioritized, planned, resourced, and coordinated.
- Ensure work order packages are complete and executable, including scope, labor estimates, materials, tools, procedures, drawings, permits, clearances, safety requirements, and contractor support needs.
- Monitor maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, preventive maintenance completion, material readiness, resource availability, and work order closeout quality to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Lead outage planning and coordination activities, including scope development, schedule integration, labor planning, material readiness, contractor coordination, risk review, and progress reporting.
- Support effective use and continuous improvement of EAM and CMMS systems for work planning, scheduling, asset records, equipment history, preventive maintenance, reporting, and maintenance process performance.
- Evaluate completed work orders, equipment histories, and maintenance data to identify failure trends, recurring issues, planning gaps, and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and work methods.
- Partner with stores, procurement, and maintenance leadership to identify material needs, support staging of planned work, and recommend appropriate min/max inventory levels for critical spare parts and new stock items.
- Assist in developing and managing maintenance budgets, especially for planned projects, outages, contractor support, materials, and maintenance improvement initiatives.
- Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of improved maintenance planning, scheduling, work management, and operational practices.
- Serve as a member of the plant or generation management team by participating in management meetings, action plan teams, root cause reviews, safety committees, site steering groups, and other efforts that support station goals, work culture, and Dairyland Power Cooperative values.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, operations management, business administration, project management, or another field relevant to power generation, maintenance, or work management is required.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in utility generation, industrial maintenance, power plant operations, maintenance planning, scheduling, project coordination, or related work is required, with at least three years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, with experience in outage planning, maintenance work management, contractor coordination, budget development, and use of an Enterprise Asset Management system or Computerized Maintenance Management System strongly preferred.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of the operation, maintenance, design, and construction of power generating facilities and related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance planning, scheduling, and work management processes in a complex industrial or utility environment.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set expectations, coach employees, resolve conflicts, make decisions, and hold teams accountable.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, process improvement techniques, and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to evaluate equipment histories, work order data, failure trends, and maintenance performance information to identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance, outage planning, backlog management, and maintenance reliability practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive conditions, including outage schedules, equipment issues, resource constraints, and changing operational needs.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as vendors, contractors, and external agencies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, safety, procurement, and stores.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, standards, and safe work practices related to power generation maintenance activities.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, project management tools, and EAM or CMMS platforms.
