About the role
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. They assist the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. They also assist the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s).
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide clinical expertise to nursing staff.
- Hire and fire nursing personnel as directed by the Nurse Manager.
- Conduct periodic employee evaluations and orientation of new employees.
- Manage the departmental budget(s).
- Facilitate positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.
Requirements
- Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups
- Required Education: Associate's Degree
- Specific Course Work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- New Hires Effective June 14, 2017: BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
- New Hires or Transfers Between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017: Abide with conditions in offer letter and job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position.
- Current Employees Prior to August 1, 2013: Grandfathered.
- Preferred Education: BSN or BS in related health care field
- Necessary Skills: Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards & Nursing Standards, clinical skills in nursing practice, good customer service skills, basic computer literacy, above average oral and written communication abilities, effective problem-solving decision making skills.
- Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida, BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas, ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for certain departments, PALS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments, NRP is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments, STABLE is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments.
