About the Role

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an additional process-driven leader to provide day-to-day operational oversight of the NNS Onboarding team. This team is responsible for all administrative functions required in the talent acquisition process, including interview scheduling, pre-employment screenings, creation of personnel files, travel and reimbursement processing, verifications, and maintaining candidate contact throughout the process.

This key position will lead and assign work to staff by leveraging employee skill sets, establishing work team goals, and evaluating employee performance. You will utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with candidates and HR leadership. This is a fast-paced environment where maintaining a high level of customer service, driving accountability, engagement, and business results will be the standard.

You will work closely with management to support hiring plans and strategize ways to improve processes throughout the candidate onboarding experience. Responsibilities

  • Provide operational oversight of the NNS Onboarding team.
  • Lead and assign work to staff based on employee skill sets.
  • Establish work team goals and evaluate employee performance.
  • Engage with candidates and HR leadership using strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and drive accountability, engagement, and business results.
  • Support hiring plans and strategize process improvements for the candidate onboarding experience.
  • Represent the organizational unit on administrative matters.
  • Recommend, interpret, and/or implement company and internal administrative policies and procedures.
  • Perform administrative tasks in functional areas such as finance, human resources, purchasing, research, and development.
  • Prepare budgeting, project scheduling, and statistical reports as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience.
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
    • NNS Apprentice School graduate.
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
    • Associate’s Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience.
    • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience.
    • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant exempt experience.
    • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant non-exempt experience.
  • Master’s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience (as an alternative to the Bachelor’s Degree requirement).

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $89,000.00 to $111,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
