About the role
Advantia’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Department is seeking a full-time Sonographer to work out of our Beltsville office. To be successful, you should have excellent patient service and communication skills, keen eyesight, attention to detail, technical proficiency, and sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
Responsibilities
- Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature.
- Reviews studies with physicians.
- Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
- Codes appropriately for services performed.
- Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment and recognizes equipment malfunctions, taking corrective action as needed.
- Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
- Follows accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
- Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities.
- Participates in professional development activities and meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
- Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.
- ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible.
- Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided.
- CPR certification required.
- Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- At least two (2) years in an Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or
- Completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
- Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
- Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.

Pay
Compensation range: $55.00–$60.00 per hour, based on years of experience.
