04 Sep 2026 A annual maintenance shutdown will take place in September at Metsä Fibre’s Rauma mills, part of Metsä Group. The regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair work carried out at the pulp mill and sawmill aims to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the facilities. The production shutdown at the pulp mill will begin department by department on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The mill will be restarted in phases starting Thursday, September 24. Temporary odor nuisances may occur around the mill area during the shutdown and startup phases. The maintenance shutdown at the Rauma sawmill will be implemented in stages during September. The work will progress from one department to another, starting with log sorting, followed by the sawmill department, sorting, drying, and ending with packaging. “The annual maintenance shutdown is an essential part of the mills’ preventive maintenance. The regular maintenance and improvement work carried out during the shutdown helps ensure the safe and reliable operation of the mills in the future as well,” says Jaakko Ikonen, VP, Rauma Pulp Mill. “In addition to our own personnel, a large number of contractor employees will be working on the mill grounds during the shutdown. Safety is the top priority in everything we do, and through careful planning and proactive safety measures, we ensure a safe working environment for everyone.” Photo/Metsä RELATED NEWS More stroke for optimal paper formation with the new TurboShaker Pro by Bellmer September 4, 2026 Suzano acquires shareholding in Imetame Logística Porto project in Brazil’s Espírito Santo state September 3, 2026 Ensuring recovery boiler reliability through proactive lifecycle services at Södra Cell Mörrum in Sweden September 3, 2026 Aize acquires Samp, connecting engineering data with physical reality September 2, 2026 Asten Johnson announced an important leadership transition.
