About the Role
At Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply Aseptic Manufacturing (PS AM) facility in Clayton, NC—a 457,000 square-foot aseptic “fill and finish” site—you will join a global network of manufacturing professionals who produce innovative, injectable diabetes and obesity treatments. The Metrology team ensures all measuring equipment is calibrated on schedule and in accordance with corporate and local requirements, providing troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project support site-wide.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate and repair temperature, pressure, conductivity, humidity, pH, TOC, flow, mass, and frequency measuring equipment.
- Accurately and legibly record all calibration activities in appropriate documentation.
- Write work orders and review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Operate and handle calibration working standards with care and expertise.
- Attain and maintain aseptic clean room certification.
- Identify deviations per proper procedures for measuring equipment.
- Participate in systematic problem-solving.
- Provide support to process owners for measuring equipment.
- Execute work according to schedule and department plan.
- Evaluate measuring equipment performance and respond to potential issues.
- Contribute to process confirmations.
- Maintain training qualifications on time and support training others as required.
- Support other department roles as needed.
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions.
- Routinely operate and inspect manufacturing equipment using hands.
- Strap and unstrap pallets using hands.
- Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift.
- May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role.
- May require color vision based on role.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder.
- May be required to work at elevated heights.
- Occasionally work around odorous and/or hazardous materials.
- May be required to wear gloves.
- Occasionally perform critical job functions in an extremely cold work environment.
- Occasionally position oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair, and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection.
- May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license and operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related engineering or science discipline from an accredited university required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- May consider a High School Diploma (GED) with five (5) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience and five (5) years of thorough understanding of instrumentation and control systems.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of thorough understanding of instrumentation and control systems preferred.
- Competency in metrology preferred.
- Ability to calibrate the following parameters: temperature, pressure, conductivity, humidity, pH, TOC, flow, mass, and frequency preferred.
- Experience using electronic calibration management systems preferred.
- Ability to read and apply schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents required.
- Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office Suite required.
- Demonstrate a high level of task management organization preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate logical task execution planning and related follow-up preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting preferred.
- Ability to document problems thoroughly and accurately and bring them to resolution quickly required.
