METROLOGY TECHNICIAN 2

Full-time, multiple shifts. U.S. citizenship required. No relocation assistance available. Not eligible for telework. Travel: 10–25% of the time. No clearance required to start. Salary range: $65,000.00 to $81,000.00. The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.

About the Role

Utilizes metrology calibration systems and techniques to measure characteristics of objects based on applied principles of measurement science. Performs measurement surveys using Photogrammetry, Total Stations, Laser Trackers, CMM's or other electronic 3D instruments. Uses 3D model based software and design drawings to plan and execute the measurement survey including the analysis of the collected data to the end user. Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design. Recommends design or test methods utilizing metrology methodologies for the achievement of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes measured data reports, includes analysis of relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. May utilize Visual Basic to enhance the functionality of 3D measurement software.

Requirements

  • A program graduation certificate from an approved institution may be substituted for an Apprentice Certification, Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in relevant field and 1 year of related experience.
  • 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree.
  • 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with cutting-edge metrology equipment: laser trackers, photogrammetry, CMMs, laser scanners, and autonomous solutions
  • Perform precise measurements and dimensional verification on ship components
  • Interpret design drawings and relate features to reference datums
  • Support operations and construction with metrology
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products for data entry, reporting, and documentation

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Foundational understanding of construction principles and measurement fundamentals
  • Experience in ship fitting, pipe fitting, or machining
  • Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Office products
