Job Description

The Metrology And Calibration Engineer – Senior will join the quality team at Cummins in Columbus, IN, focusing on calibration and measurement processes. This role involves leading advanced Measurement Systems Analysis and providing expert consultation on metrology challenges. The engineer will also analyze calibration data to recommend improvements and ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards.

Requirements

  • A college, university, or equivalent degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related technical or scientific subject is required.
  • An intermediate level of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, is required.
  • Previous experience with CMM programming, GD&T understanding, and metrology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust calibration and measurement processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead advanced Measurement Systems Analysis applying statistical methods to validate system capability.
  • Analyze calibration and testing data to identify trends and recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Provide expert consultation on complex metrology challenges to guide teams toward effective solutions.
  • Develop and deploy specialized measurement and testing equipment to enhance capability and accuracy.
  • Establish and lead equipment capability studies to ensure systems meet performance requirements.
  • Deliver technical training and mentorship to strengthen team expertise in calibration practices.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards while managing specialized software tools.
