Meter Technician

MAJOR DUTIES

• Installs, maintains and repairs water meters and node readers in residential and commercial applications.
• Responds to work orders created by the customer service department.
• Performs meter tests for accuracy.
• Performs leak detection for customers with high usage concerns.
• Turns water service on and off for emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Hangs door hangers for delinquent customers.
• Performs non-payment turnoff/turn on for delinquent customers.
• Locates curb stops and meter pits for customers.
• Performs maintenance and installation of hydrant meters for contractors.
• Maintains shop inventory of meters, parts and supplies.
• Affords assistance in the maintenance and repair of the collection and distribution system when necessary.
• Attends required training.
• Responds to and resolves customer questions and complaints.
• Reads and interprets maps and permits on the Webviewer.
• Performs related duties.
