Meter System and Blue Stakes Operator I

Responsibilities

• Exemplify the District's mission by delivering the promise WE CARE when interacting with customers, employees, and the community.
• Support District operations by installing, maintaining, and repairing water meter systems and performing Blue Stakes utility locating services.
• Investigate and resolve meter irregularities, leaks, and unusual water usage.
• Install meters and communication devices for residential and commercial properties.
• Perform meter testing, calibration, and system troubleshooting.
• Respond to customer service requests, including service connections and disconnections.
• Assist with emergency responses, repairs to water/sewer systems, and field operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and the public.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides similar knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Utah driver's license and good driving record.
• Obtain a Grade I State of Utah Water Distribution within six (6) months and Grade I Sewer Collection Operator Certifications within twelve (12) months of hire date.
• Complete OSHA Competent Person Training and confined space training within three (3) months of date in position.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical equipment and systems.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
